This module differs from the previous 3 modules in that the objectives do not include anatomical or physiological topics. However, based on what you have already learned in the first modules, try to relate cognitive functioning to your understanding of the underlying neuroanatomical structures and function.

In this module you will be presented with a description of cognition that includes a framework for thinking about specific aspects of cognition. These specific aspects of cognition will be referred to as functional component systems of cognition. The perspective presented is not intended to be "THE" framework or representation of how the mind works, rather the information is intended to help you make sense of an amazingly complex set of processes that are interrelated and inseparable.
