As of Jan. 28, 2010, The Tar Heel Reader, an on-line resource for reading and writing beginning level digital books for older adolescents, has over 7,700 books in its library and over 885,000 book readings since it went online in May 2008.

Children with Disabilities: Reading and Writing the Four-Block Way (Karen Erickson & David Koppenhaver) has been published by Carson-Dellosa, 2007 (ISBN 978-1-60022-125-5).

March 25: I will be speaking on literacy instruction for students with ASD at the 7th Annual Autism Disorders Conference in Abingdon, Virginia.

March 27: Karen Erickson and I will be speaking on literacy instruction for students with Down syndrome at the 26th Annual Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress Conference in Worcester, MA.

May 15: Karen Erickson and I will be presenting a workshop on action research for literacy educators and a closing session, "Thoughtful Technology Use
to Support Singular Success in Narrow, Old Literacy
(and Why it Matters to Individuals with Disabilities)" at the National Technology in Education Conference in Toronto.

May 17-21: Karen Erickson and I wll be co-teaching the 3rd Literacy in AAC Course in Toronto. Contact Bridges to Learning for more information.

June 13-15: Karen Erickson and I will be co-teaching a Level II Literacy in AAC course for past participants in the Level I course at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Contact Cathy Zenko for further info.
