Practicum Experiences and Report Rubric

You will keep a notebook or file of your practicum teaching. Materials that must be included are your lesson plans (i.e., what you planned for each session with your student), lesson notes (what you actually did, how the student responded, your questions or thoughts on how to proceed in the next lesson, notes from relevant discussions in class, resources (or resource references) to materials you use, copies of any materials you provide to parents, copies of communications with parents, and a 3-pp. report for parents reflecting on what you did, what you think the student learned (and how you know), and what you recommend parents or teachers might do to follow up. Be humble and tentative (make sure they understand that this is an intro level experience.) Here is a link to a sample report structure you might follow in organizing your report for parents.

A (18-20 pts)
Comprehensive materials collection that is organized and easily reviewed.
Detailed notes (a substitute teacher could take your plans and notes and teach next week)
Thoughtful, thorough reflection turned in by April 29.

B (16-17 pts)
Almost A work. May fall short on one (or just barely short of two) of the italicized criteria above.

C (14-15 pts)
Almost B work. May fall short on two of the italicized criteria above.

D or F (0-13 pts)
May fall short on three or more of the italicized criteria above.
