Teaching

I knew I wanted to teach. I wanted to teach the kids that struggled the most. I wanted to figure out methods for instruction that enabled them to understand. Reading difficulties have been the prominent theme in my years of working with kids. Through analysis of instructional methods, I learned how to scaffold and create lessons that resulted in enjoyment and achievement. After all, if we aren't engaged, what's the point? What's the point for the student? What's the point of the teacher? Remember when you thought teaching would be fun? It still can be- but you have to do lots of work! Teaching is intellectually stimulating for the student and the educator, and the effort pays off when the student learns a previously difficult concept.
